What is Strava?
Strava is a free app where users can record activities, connect with friends, and share adventures while supporting one another with “kudos.” It’s an online community where we can collaborate and connect with people worldwide.
Why are we using Strava for this challenge?
Group Challenges on Strava allow us to make the 100-hour cycling challenge 'PEDAL FOR A PURPOSE' accessible to everyone. We can set the challenge, the time frame, and keep track of how we are all doing as a collective towards the final goal. Within the Group Challenge experience, you can keep track of progress, see how everyone is doing, and view any photos the community might like to share.
It will allow anyone to join us from any location all over the UK and the world, meaning we can raise awareness and hopefully lots of funds for Cancer Research UK’s life-saving research.
Strava isn’t just about stats; you can make it what you want, and we want it to be about creating a community spirit – a place where you can easily share experiences and cycling adventures, bringing people together and building a supportive community. Even if you can’t join the ride in person, you can still be part of our collective of women, uplifting one another.
What we hope to achieve:
The most important thing we hope to achieve by creating 'PEDAL FOR A PURPOSE', is to raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK and support individuals affected by cancer. We aim to create a positive space that unites the community and makes a meaningful impact on people’s lives.
At the core of the growth in women’s cycling lies the establishment of supportive communities. These collectives offer a secure haven for women to connect, exchange experiences, and uplift one another, whether within a local cycling club or through an online network.
